An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Belgian Movie Poster (measures 24" x 33 1/4" [61 x 84 cm]) (Learn More) Georges et Georgette (literally translates to "Georges and Georgette"), the 1934 Roger le Bon & Reinhold Schunzel German cross-dressing musical romantic comedy starring Julien Carette (in the title role as Georges), Meg Lemonnier, Anton Walbrook, Jenny Burnay, and Clare Darcey-Roche. Note that this is the French-language version of the 1933 German film Viktor und Viktoria. It was filmed at the same time as the German version, but with a French cast. Also, this movie was remade three times: first in the U.S. as "First a Girl" in 1935 starring Jessie Matthews and Sonnie Hale, again in Germany in 1957 starring Georg Thomalla, and again in the U.S. in 1982 as "Victor/Victoria" starring Julie Andrews and James Garner. Important Added Info: Note that this is an ultra rare "pre-War" Belgian poster that we have never auctioned before! Prior to World War II, Belgian posters were much larger than the ones from after the war, and they are extremely rare (because during WWII, there was a massive paper shortage in Belgium, and they took virtually every poster and map, and printed new posters on the backs of them. Note also that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good. The poster has approximately 8" of separation at the bottom vertical foldline (see our image). It has pinholes around the edges and it somewhat fragile. It is otherwise "all there" and after proper restoration the poster will display well, but bear in mind the poster's condition and the cost of restoration before bidding on it.
