An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Belgian Movie Poster (measures 14 1/4" x 19" [36 x 48 cm]) (Learn More) Schlager-Raketen (literally translates to "Pop Rockets"), the 1960 Erik Ode German romantic teen musical comedy starring Helga Sommerfeld, Vivi Bach, Hans Von Borsody, Camillo Felgen, and Trude Herr, and featuring Nat "King" Cole, Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway, Peter Kraus, Conny Froboess, Heidi Bruhl, Lolita, Vico Torriani, and Teddy Reno. This is a very interesting movie! It certainly appears to be some sort of German teen comedy that had famous musical acts performing all through it (including legendary black African American performers Duke Ellington, Nat King Cole, and Cab Calloway), but it doesn't appear that it was ever released in the U.S., and we were unable to find out more about the movie! Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster originally had a blank top that was neatly trimmed off (this is commonly done with Belgian posters, similar to how the blank top is trimmed off of U.S. window cards). The poster also had some scuffs in the upper left border, extending into Heidi Bruhl's face, and also an odd sort of "scuffing" around all the edges, which appears to be within the printing and a minor printing defect. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above, but they are really not very distracting.
