eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 3s0596 LOT OF 3 SQUAW MAN 8X10 STILLS 1931 Warner Baxter, Lupe Velez, Charles Bickford Date Sold 3/8/2020Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. a lot of 3 7 1/2" x 9 1/2" stills from The Squaw Man. The stills in this lot have a MOST unusual origin. They were found in a Texas movie theater in 1972, when the theater was being torn down. There were stills glued to boards that were displayed on one of the walls of the theater. Our consignor "rescued" these stills (and others, which we are auctioning in other bulk lots) by cutting them from the board. The stills have been trimmed (see our images). Obviously, the new owner of these could have them removed from the heavy boards they are glued to, or one could display them as they are. Either way, bear in mind this unusual defect BEFORE bidding on this lot of stills. Of course, The Squaw Man is the 1931 Cecil B. DeMille Native American Indian romantic love triangle cowboy western ("Cecil B. DeMille's greatest dramatic triumph!"; "He sacrificed even his honor to the desire of his love-mad soul!"; based on the play by Edwin Milton Royle; a story of a cousin of an English nobleman, who nobly takes the blame for something his cousin did wrong, and he leaves England in disgrace and goes to the American West, where he ends up marrying a Native American Indian woman, but then he learns that his cousin has died, and he can return to England and gain the title, and he always loved his cousin's widow, but will he leave the life he has built for himself and his Native American wife?) starring Warner Baxter, Lupe Velez, Eleanor Boardman, Charles Bickford, Roland Young, Paul Cavanagh, and Dickie Moore. Note that this movie was a remake by director DeMille of his classic 1918 movie of the same name. Measurements: 7 1/2" x 9 1/2"Condition: fair to good. Many years ago, the stills were trimmed and each glued to a heavy board (see above). No one has performed any restoration, but it could be done, or they could be displayed as they are. However, bear in mind these defects before bidding. Learn More about condition grades Titles included:
