Artist: Jim Steranko Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this REALLY cool English pre-production folder for Raiders of the Lost Ark (and it sold for $130)! We know it is from well before the movie came out, both because it has great Jim Steranko art (both on the inside of the folder and on two 8" x 10" color stills) and until we were consigned this, we did not even know that Jim Steranko, the well known comic book artist, had even been hired to work on this movie (but this art was used for the English campaign of this movie)! In many ways, this folder seems like a presskit, but the folder is 10 1/2" x 13 1/2", which is much larger than regular presskit folders from this time, and the inside of the folder has a great die-cut image of Steranko's drawing of Harrison Ford, and it makes us think he wasn't very familiar with what Harrison Ford looked like. The two color stills also have Steranko art. The folder and the stills have "TM LUCASFILM, LTD (LFI) 1980", and the billing on the back of the folder says "(TENTATIVE BILLING)". There is a 3-page supplement included as well, which gives "the story" of the movie. This is certainly one of the most rare Raiders of the Lost Ark collectibles we have ever encountered! It was consigned to us by a U.S. theater owner who acquired it in 1980, and perhaps Paramount sent it to some U.S. theater owners to get them interested in the upcoming movie.
