eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 5z026 SHE SHOULDA SAID NO 1sh '49 great art of the Kansas blonde who made just one mistake! Date Sold 4/13/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) She Shoulda Said No (also released in both the U.S. and Germany as "Devil's Weed"), the 1949 Sam Newfield teen exploitation drug movie ("This Kansas blond made 'Just One Mistake'!"; "Still you will love her"; "A teen-age thunderbolt!"; "Mothers and Dads bring those 'Teen-Agers'!"; "Special big midnite show only!"; "For none under sixteen -police order"; "It's new and dynamic!"; "The new surprise hit the nation is stayin' up to see"; "It's thrilling crowds in 50 cities every midnight"; "Get up a big party"; "Stay up or stay dumb!") starring Alan Baxter, Lyle Talbot, Lila Leeds, Michael Whalen, and Mary Ellen Popel. Note that this movie was made in 1949, but was then shown throughout America over the next few years, surely mostly in small towns, and often in special midnight shows (because a "police order" said that it could not be shown before midnight, and no one under 16 was allowed!). Note that we have seen two very similar 40x60s and a one-sheet, and the 40x60s have different taglines, indicating they were printed at different times (and as we say, they likely date from the early 1950s). UPDATE: We were consigned a 30x40 that has a completely different image from the other posters we have previously seen, and this one has a tagline that says "Big Midnite Show Only" and "It's thrilling crowds in 50 cities every midnite!", which reinforces that what we said above is correct, and that this movie was playing throughout small town America in the early 1950s, but we still are unable to exactly date the posters we have seen! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Years ago, some collector had this poster mounted onto foamcore. While most collectors do not like this, I have seen many posters that have been mounted on foamcore for years, and it never has any ill effects on the poster, so I am not sure why there is a bias against it! Note that this item needs to be shipped in an oversized flat package. Some of these items can ONLY be sent in flat packages, and could not possibly be rolled into a tube. On some of them (for example f it is a size that might ordinarily be rolled in a tube, like a half-sheet), the reason it is in this auction is specifically because we feel it either CAN'T be rolled or because we feel it would be a mistake to roll it, because it might well damage the item. In the case of the few items that could be rolled, we will roll the item in a tube if the new owner insists, but only if they accept that they can't return the item if it is damaged from being rolled. So please bear in mind that this item must be sent in a LARGE flat package (the size of the package will depend on the size of the item), and bear this added expense in mind before placing a bid on it. Condition: good. The poster has been mounted to a piece of foamcore (see above). It has a small bit of paper loss in the upper crossfold that is surrounded by some slight discoloration. There is a 1 1/2" u-shaped tear at left (in the "Sh" of "She") that has been touched up with some red marker. Please see our super-sized image to get a good sense of the condition of this item prior to placing a bid. Learn More about condition grades
