What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had tears running through the top and bottom of the "M" of "McLAGLEN" at the lower center of the poster, with paper loss in the top center of the "M". The tear at the top of the "M" ran across to the small "C" and down through it. The poster had some other creases scattered throughout and some tears and small paper loss around the edges. It also had some tears and tiny stains in the left of the first "E" of "TEMPLE". It had some creases, tiny tears, and tiny bits of paper loss on parts of some folds, with a tiny bit of paper loss in Temple's 's cheek. There was an 8" horizontal crease 1 1/2" above the right end of the top horizontal fold, in the background area and a similar crease in the lower right, going through the shoulders of the man at right. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can clearly see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. But because most of the defects are either in the borders or in the left of the credits, and very few are in Temple or McLaglen's image, the poster still displays well, and I would think most collectors would be happy to display this great poster as it is (and of course, any talented restorer could perform additional restoration, either with or without re-backing the poster).
