A Vintage Autographed Hardcover Book (measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm]; 125 pages) (Learn More) Edgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan Of the Apes, the 1972 Burne Hogarth illustrated book featuring Burne Hogarth's full-color newspaper strips (rearranged and enlarged for publication in this book) re-telling the origin of Tarzan. Important Added Info: Note that this book has been personally autographed (signed) by FOUR people: Johnny Weissmuller, Maureen O'Sullivan, Denny Miller, AND Jock Mahoney! The book comes with a handwritten letter from artist Burne Hogarth to a collector with the envelope that the letter was sent in. The winner of this auction gets the book signed by these four Tarzan actors and also the signed Hogarth letter. Also note that this auction also includes the printed envelope this item originally came with! Finally, note that we have pictured the front cover, the title page, and the interior page that shows the publishing information, and one or more interior 2-page spreads. Note that this is one of many items that was consigned to us by legendary Tarzan collector Phil Petras. Mr. Petras was one of the greatest Tarzan fans ever, and he became good friends with several of the actors who played Tarzan, and over many decades, starting in the 1970s, he would meet with actors and actresses who had appeared in Tarzan movies, sometimes on the sets of films, and sometimes at fan gatherings. Prior to his recent passing, he consigned most of his collection to us, and we are currently auctioning many of his autographed items, sometimes from actors who played Tarzan or Jane, and sometimes from actors who appeared in one or more Tarzan movies (but the items we are auctioning may or may not be from their Tarzan films). Mr. Petras naturally did not have "certificates of authenticity", but we feel certain that the autograph on this item, and every other item we are currently auctioning from his collection, is surely authentic! As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction.
