WHO can save you now?"; "Screenplay by Lorenzo Semple, Jr."; "Produced by Dino De Laurentiis"; based on the classic 1930s comic strip created by Alex Raymond; featuring rock "Music by Queen") starring Sam J. Jones (in the title role as Flash Gordon), Melody Anderson (as Dale Arden), Ornella Muti (as Princess Aura), Max Von Sydow (as The Emperor Ming), Topol (as Dr. Zarkov), Timothy Dalton (as Prince Barin), Mariangela Melato ("as Kala"), Brian Blessed, and Peter Wyngarde NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a poster we have seen only a few times before (very rare for posters of the 1980s on)! There are two different styles of this foil advance, one horizontal and one vertical. Both posters have artwork by Philip Castle, but the art is laid out differently on each poster, and there is a different border design to each poster. Also, the horizontal one is printed on a heavy stock with a glossy foil-like printing. One collector tells us that he attended a trade show where Universal Studios was exhibiting, and they gave out samples of the horizontal poster. If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: very good to fine. The poster is near perfect but there are faint smudges in the solid black background area (typical with glossy posters with a solid black background).. Note that this poster was never folded. Most movie posters from before 1980 were machine folded immediately after printing, but a very few were left unfolded. An unfolded poster from before 1980 is almost always far more difficult to find than a folded poster of the same title, and finding unfolded posters in excellent condition is even more difficult!
