An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

A Night in the Moulin Rouge (also released as "Ding Dong Girlies" and "Ding Dong"), the 1951 W. Merle Connell burlesque stripper exotic dancer sexploitation movie ("Ding-Dong!"; "Spicy-Saucy!"; "Naughty but nice!"; "Ooo, La! La!!"; "Snappy Saucy Spicy"; "Girls Girls Girls"; "Oh! La-La (Nuf-Sed)"; "French Style Girls") starring Illona ("The Bavarian Orchid"), Iva Pratt ("and the Red Mill Cuties"), Jennie Lee, Jack Little, and George 'Beetlepuss' Lewis. This movie (like other movies that followed it in the 1950s) presented a sort of "evening at a burlesque show". Note that, despite implications of the title, the movie was actually filmed at the "Moulin Rouge Theater", a burlesque theater in Oakland, California! Note that this movie is very similar to the 1951 movie "The French Follies", in that both of them were filmed at a "strip club", where the strippers did their actual routines (except that they did it for a camera in an empty club). That is odd, because the two movies were made by different companies, but maybe someone saw the first movie and then approached the club about doing a similar movie, and they agreed. Some of the same performers appear in both films. In this movie, the soundtrack is pre-recorded, and it doesn't appear that the girls are hearing that music, while in "French Follies", either the music was recorded while the girls were performing, or more likely, it was added later, but because it is the music they were performing to.
Important Added Info: Note that many exhibitors took low-budget 1930s and 1940s exploitation movies around the country in the 1930s and 1940s, exhibiting them in small towns with lurid ad campaigns, usually to packed houses! Often, the lobby cards from these roadshow releases consisted of a stock lobby card with an inset area that was 7" x 8 1/2", and the producers would glue eight different 7x8.5s on to eight stock lobby cards, thus inexpensively creating an 8 card set. Note that most of these type of movies are from the 1930s and 1940s, but that this movie is from 1951, so we think it is quite likely that this card is from the first release of the movie, and that it ONLY had a roadshow release. Finally, note that the IMDb lists this movie as "Ding Dong Night at the Moulin Rouge", but we believe that the "at" is a typo and that it should be "in". If anyone knows more about this movie or this lobby card, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Condition: very good. There are creases in the top right corner. There are two pieces of tape on the back of the center of the top and bottom borders, but they were not put there for any restoration purpose.
