An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 28" x 42" [71 x 107 cm]) (Learn More)

Gerard Damiano's Deep Throat, the classic 1972 Gerard Damiano sexploitation movie ("How far does a girl have to go to untangle her tingle?") starring Linda Lovelace, Harry Reems, Dolly Sharp, Bill Harrison, William Love, and Carol Connors. Of course, this was the first x-rated hardcore movie that "crossed over" and was seen by general audiences, and it opened the floodgates for many, many more such movies, and it definitely has a significant place in movie history.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned three examples of this 28" x 42" one-sheet, and the last one sold for $1,150! Also note that there are four different styles of one-sheet we have seen for this movie, three with a photographic image and one with an artwork image (which has a "1973" after the artist's signature). Given that the movie was shown in a huge number of places over the couple of years after its initial release, it seems likely that many of the posters would have been printed after the very first release of the movie. The poster offered here (which is one of the three photographic styles, and which measures 28" x 42") is identical to that shown in the pressbook for the movie, but we do not know if there is any way to determine whether it was created in 1972, or 1973, or possibly even a short time later. Note that the other two photographic style one-sheets measures 28" x 40 1/2", and is just slightly smaller than this poster, and the other measures 25 1/4" x 38", and that one has large blank white borders at the top and bottom, so this style of one-sheet has a much larger image than the other photographic one-sheet. The fourth style has an artwork image and looks completely different from this poster.

Condition: very good. Likely because the poster measures 28" x 42", it was oddly folded, with five horizontal folds and two evenly spaced vertical folds. There are pinholes in the corners and some creases around the edges, with two light faint partial vertical folds down the left of the left border. There are faint brown stains in the upper left yellow background area. There are some creases to the left and right of the vertical folds, caused when the poster was folded. There are a few other faint brown stains on the back of the poster near where the ones above are, but those don't show through to the front. The poster can definitely be displayed and enjoyed as it is, or after a simple linenbacking, it will display even better, but that will be the choice of the new owner of this rare poster!
