An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 10" x 13 1/4" [25 x 34 cm]) (Learn More) 42nd Street, the classic 1933 Lloyd Bacon New York City Broadway theater stage acting romantic love triangle all-star musical ("14 stars 200 girls"; based on the novel by Bradford Ropes; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; with dances staged by Busby Berkeley) starring Dick Powell, Edward J. Nugent, Ginger Rogers, Warner Baxter, Bebe Daniels, George Brent, Ruby Keeler, Una Merkel, Guy Kibbee, Margaret La Marr, Donna Mae Roberts, Adele Lacy, Jayne Shaddack, George E. Stone, Ned Sparks, Ruth Eddings, Edna Callahan, Lynn Browning, Toby Wing, Loretta Andrews, Barbara Rogers, and Allen Jenkins. Note that this movie, which may be the first sound movie to use the cliche of the star being injured and an untested newcomer gets her big break as a result, had some of the most risque advertising of any movie ever, with many images of girls wearing the skimpiest of costumes! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have been consigned a collection of early lobby cards that all were heavily trimmed (some with just the borders trimmed, but others trimmed to 8" x 10"). They are all from very rare titles, and certainly, they could be restored (or displayed as they are). One would obviously prefer finding an untrimmed example of this card, but one might wait a VERY long time to find that untrimmed example, but bear in mind this significant defect before bidding on this card, which has been trimmed and it now measures 10" x 13 1/4" [25 x 34 cm]. In the case of this card, it was unevenly trimmed (see our condition report below). Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: fair. Some theater that used this card decided to artistically trim out the background area at top center and in the top right corner (it included a pattern and also a credit for Warner Bros). There is also scuffing scattered throughout the card, including much on Keeler's face and some in her dress and arm. There are also pinholes around the edges. Obviously, this great card can be restored (and we can supply a high quality scan of the missing area), but bear in mind its considerable defects before placing a bid on it.
