An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Belgian Movie Poster (measures 14 1/4" x 18 1/4") (Learn More) The Asphalt Jungle, the classic 1950 John Huston (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) crime film noir ("MGM presents the story of the city under the city."; "From a novel by W.R. Burnett"; about a "perfect robbery" with a team of top professionals, but of course, everything unravels, partially through double-crosses; perhaps the best movie of its kind!) starring Sterling Hayden, Louis Calhern, Jean Hagen, James Whitmore, Sam Jaffe (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), John McIntire, Marilyn Monroe, Marc Lawrence, Barry Kelley, Anthony Caruso, Teresa Celli, Brad Dexter, Don Haggerty, and Daniel Clarke NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that Marilyn Monroe had a very small part in this classic film noir, and she is very low in the credits, and does not appear on any of the U.S. posters, except for the six-sheet, where she appears on one corner. But the creator of this Belgian poster correctly saw her as a great selling point for this gritty film noir, and he made her the centerpiece of the Belgian poster, even though she was not among the six actors credited! But he apparently did his job TOO well, for the censors in Belgium painted over the top of Monroe's dress, deeming her TOO sexy for Belgian audiences! Also note that this Belgian poster measures 14 1/4" x 18 1/4" and that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good. The poster has had censor paint added to Monroe's image! Apparently, the image of Monroe was considered too sexy for Belgian audiences at the time, and some poor censor very neatly painted in a new red top portion to her dress, covering her formerly plunging neckline! There was a blank area at the top of the poster that was trimmed off (this is common with Belgian posters). There are light stains and remnants of a paper snipe across the very top edge of the image. There is a crease in the right of Monroe's forehead. There are creases, smudges, tiny pinholes, and a few tiny faint stains around the edges of the poster. There are creases throughout the poster both along the regular foldlines, and on some additional horizontal foldlines. Learn More about condition grades
