An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 20 3/4") (Learn More) When Worlds Collide, the classic 1951 Rudolph Mate science fiction (sci-fi) doomsday fantasy thriller ("Spectacle never before filmed!"; "Most amazing story that science or fiction ever imagined!"; "Planets Destroy Earth!"; "Giant planet collides with earth!"; "Enormous earthquakes swallow whole continents!"; "Tidal waves flood entire countries!"; "Space ship leaves earth!"; "Based on the famous novel by Edwin Balmer and Philip Wylie"; produced by George Pal, who did the excellent special effects; a highly literate screenplay by Sydney Boehm; this is the sort of movie that proved that science fiction movies did not have to be silly to be critically acclaimed or popular with the public; it is a pity more movies did not follow this wonderful movie's formula!) starring Barbara Rush, Richard Derr, Peter Hanson, John Hoyt, Larry Keating, Frank Cady, and Stephen Chase NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Condition: good. The card has uneven paper loss at the top of the top play dates area. The card was folded down the middle at one time and has separated on the bottom 3" of that fold. Someone put clear tape on the back of that foldline to reinforce it. There are some small tears and paper loss in the lower part of the right blank border. There are some staple holes in the left and right edges of the image and two pinholes in the left and right of the top background area. There are some smudges, scuffs, and tiny stains scattered in the image. In spite of all of the above defects, the card displays pretty well (especially if the top play dates area was matted over or trimmed off), and I could easily see many collectors displaying this just as it is, or of course, a talented restorer could certainly perform restoration, after which it will look great!.
