An Original Vintage Australian Campaign Book (measures 9 3/4" x 12 1/4" [25 x 31 cm]; 130 pages) (Learn More) Paramount 1925, the 1925 Australian campaign book ("The Greater 40 Merit-Minted Paramount Pictures"). Note that there was a U.S. campaign book published in 1925 called "25 Paramount Showman's Pictures", and that book had 73 pages. This book covers some of the same movies and stars as that book, but it has 130 pages. It is entirely two-color, but it has advertisements for many of Paramount's upcoming movies, plus images of their top stars. Some of the movies and stars advertised include: The Pony Express, Stage Struck (Gloria Swanson), The Street of Forgotten Men, The American Venus, That Royle Girl (D.W. Griffith), The Vanishing American, Moana of the South, The Ten Commandments, and Peter Pan. Note that The Street of Forgotten Men and The American Venus were both Louise Brooks movies, but she is not pictured or mentioned on either ad, so we suspect she was not yet attached to either project at the time this book was created. Also note that one of the pages is headlined "Some Other Stars Under the Paramount Banner", and one of the three top pictured stars is Clara Bow, but she is so young as to be virtually unrecognizable from how she looked just a year or two later! Note: We have 14 images of this campaign book, but due to a space limitation, only TEN of the 14 images are displayed above. However, there is a "supersize" link to the right of those images that lets you see the other 4. Condition: good. There is light water staining and red staining on the last ten or so interior pages, and some faint stains on the covers, but otherwise, the book is in pretty nice condition!
