An Original Vintage NSS Movie Poster Order Form (measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm]) (Learn More)

The National Screen Service (NSS) was a company that controlled the distribution of theatrical advertising materials in the United States from approximately 1940 through the 1980s. They also handled some publicity distribution in England. Starting in the late 1970s, the studios started to handle poster production alongside the NSS, usually for blockbuster films. Gradually, the role of the NSS in poster distribution dwindled, and by the 1990s, disappeared altogether.
Important Added Info: Note that very few collectors have seen any NSS order form before, and when they do, they invariably weep! This theater from Portland, Oregon, placed this order in 1958 for four 8x10s from The Day the Earth Stood Still (miswritten as "The Day Earth Stood Sill") for 50 cents each, and eight 8x10s from Forbidden Planet (miswritten "Forbidden Planted") for 50 cents each, and one 11x14 from This Island Earth for $1.25! Obviously, one wonders WHY they solely bought stills when they could have bought one-sheets, three-sheets, six-sheets, or 24-sheets on those same titles, surely for just a few dollars each at the very most!

Condition: very good.
