An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 17 1/2" [36 x 44 cm]) (Learn More) The Garden of Allah, the 1936 Richard Boleslawski Sahara Desert Africa romantic unlikely romance melodrama ("Two loved in conflict!"; "Nights of love in a desert paradise!"; "From the book by Robert Hichens"; "A man... and a woman... alone!"; "See the new Marlene Dietrich and the magic richness that technicolor has added to her exotic beauty."; about an heiress who takes a vacation to Africa, and she meets a former monk who conceals his past from her) starring Marlene Dietrich, Charles Boyer, Basil Rathbone, C. Aubrey Smith, Joseph Schildkraut, Tilly Losch, and Helen Jerome Eddy NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 14" x 17 1/2" [36 x 44 cm]. Also note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Condition: good. The window card originally had a blank top that was neatly trimmed off (this was commonly done with window cards, when the top had been left blank, or when someone had hand-scrawled play date information in that area). There are water stains scattered throughout the card. They are faint and they form "drip" patterns. But they are throughout the card and in the stars' faces (more so in Boyer's than Dietrich's. I would think some collectors could display this card just as it is, or certainly, a restorer could perform any degree of restoration the new owner wanted (and it is quite possible that much of the water staining can be removed through chemical means, without much paint restoration at all), but please read our description above and look at our super-sized image before placing a bid on this extremely rare poster.
