Taut! Terrific!"; the screenwriter, Anthony Veiller, came up with a "prequel" to the classic short story, and he devised a very interesting and very believable back-story that would explain the actions of the characters in Hemingway's story) starring Burt Lancaster (in his first screen role; billed as "introducing Burt Lancaster"), Ava Gardner, Edmond O'Brien, Albert Dekker, Sam Levene, Virginia Christine, Charles D. Brown, William Conrad, Charles McGraw, Jack Lambert, Vera Lewis, Harry Hayden, Jeff Corey, and Jack Cheatham NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and some creases, scuffs, and tiny dots of paper loss on the vertical foldline and on the bottom horizontal fold, with a lesser amount on the other two folds.
