The film that you'll call the best you ever saw"; "Story by Laurence Stallings"; "King Vidor's production of Lawrence Stallings' great motion picture story following his stage success with 'What Price Glory'"; about an all-American boy who enlists in the Army in World War I, and he and his friends have a great time until they are thrust into combat, and the movie shows the horrors of war in a way that had not been done before, and the boy returns home after losing a leg; there is also a romantic subplot with the American G.I. having a brief affair with a beautiful French girl) starring John Gilbert ("The Star"), Renee Adoree ("as Melisande"), Hobart Bosworth, Claire McDowell, Claire Adams, Robert Ober, Tom O'Brien, Karl Dane, and Rosita Martini.
