An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie 7 3/4" x 9 3/4" [20 x 25 cm] Key Book Still (Learn More) Frankenstein, the classic 1931 James Whale Universal monster horror thriller ("The monster that terrorized the world!"; "The Man Who Made a Monster"; "Warning! The monster is loose!"; "Based upon the Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley Story"; "Adapted by John L. Balderston from the play by Peggy Webling"; the first of the Universal "Frankenstein" movies, and regarded as one of the finer movies of any genre, in large part due to the marvelous acting of Boris Karloff, and the marvelous direction of James Whale!) starring Colin Clive (as Dr. Herbert V. Frankenstein), Boris Karloff (as the Frankenstein monster), Edward Van Sloan, Fredric Kerr, Mae Clarke, Dwight Frye (extremely memorable as Fritz), and John Boles NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this still is a key book still, mounted to a linen backing. Many studios spent extra money to have their most special photos, the key book stills, either backed with linen or printed on a heavy paper, both of which enhanced their durability. They had an extra 1" at the left or top, with punch holes, because of how they were stored. Key book stills are far more rare than regular stills, which has increased their popularity among collectors, since only a few keybooks were manufactured per film, and a key book still is guaranteed to be authentic. Someone trimmed away the excess from the top of the still. Condition: very good. Someone trimmed the still and it now measures 7 3/4" x 9 3/4" (see above). We don't know if it measured this when it was in the key book (but with an extra inch at the top), or it could have been slightly trimmed on all four sides afterwards, but that seems much less likely. The image was printed at a slight diagonal, but very slight. There is tiny loss in the emulsion in the left of the top blank border and tiny paper loss in the top of the left blank border. There are a few faint creases and scuffs scattered in the image. This wonderful still will certainly display incredibly on the new owner's wall exactly as it is! Learn More about condition grades
