eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 7s696 VINCENT PRICE signed letter 1970s telling a painter his paintings are charming but won't buy! Date Sold 7/8/2018Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Autographed Letter (measures 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" [11 x 14 cm]) (Learn More) Vincent Price (actually "Vincent L. Price Jr.") was a legendary actor from the 1930s to the 1990s. He is best remembered for his contributions to the horror genre, and some of his movies include: The Fly, Laura, The Ten Commandments, Theater of Blood, The Abominable Dr. Phibes, The Last Man on Earth, and Edward Scissorhands. He passed away in 1993 at the age of 82. Important Added Info: Note that this letter has been personally autographed (signed) by Vincent Price! Apparently, Mr. Price was replying to a man who had sent him photos of paintings, hoping that Vincent Price would be interested in buying them (Price was a celebrated art collector/dealer around this time). But while Mr. Price says he "enjoyed seeing your photos of your charming paintings", he added that he is "no longer in the art business", but he recommended contacting the Sari Heller Gallery, saying "You should have success". What is really humorous about this is in 1976, Frank Heller, the owner of the Sari Heller Gallery, was convicted of art fraud amounting to many millions of dollars, and the gallery was closed. We certainly hope this man wasn't a victim of that fraud! Our consignor is a longtime dealer who acquired this signed item among many other purchases in his inventory, and he does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature to likely be authentic. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: very good. There are some bits of paper and glue residue on the back where the letter was once attached to a mat. Learn More about condition grades
