An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Three Faces West, the 1940 Bernard Vorhaus World War II (WWII) Home Front romantic love triangle adventure melodrama ("GUILTY of daring to love and live"; a complicated story of an Austrian surgeon and his daughter who flee Germany to escape Hitler, and they go to a small town in North Dakota; but the town is devastated by dust storms, and all the townspeople are led to Oregon by a handsome young man, who the daughter starts to fall for, but her father wants her to marry the man who helped them escape from Germany, but she learns that he has embraced Nazism) starring John Wayne, Sigrid Gurie, Charles Coburn, Spencer Charters, and Helen MacKellar. Note that it goes unstated in the movie, but it seems obvious that the surgeon and his daughter are Jewish, and one of the screenwriters was Samuel Ornitz, who was later one of the blacklisted Hollywood Ten screenwriters! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and the restorer did a good job, but you can see signs of the restoration from inches away (since most people look at posters framed on a wall from at least a few feet away, we don't feel this is a defect, but we feel it should be noted). See below for this poster's pre-restoration condition (we are the only major auction company we know of that shares this information with our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). very good to fine. Poster had minor creases and tiny tears down much of the vertical foldline, and paper loss at the bottom crossfold, with tears in the bottom foldline to the left and right of the bottom crossfold. It had minor border defects, including pinholes in the corners, and some creases and minor smudges. The poster is well linenbacked, and the minor defects are not noticeable except from inches away.
