Auction History Result 5a588 THORN BIRDS 5 TV 7x9 stills '83 Richard Chamberlain, Barbara Stanwyck, Jean Simmons, Ward Date Sold 9/22/2011 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 5 Original Vintage 7" x 9" Television Stills (Learn More) The Thorn Birds, the 1983 U.S./Australian New Zealand/Australia romantic love triangle melodrama television (TV) mini-series ("An ABC novel for television"; based on the book by Colleen McCullough; about a young woman who moves from New Zealand to Australia to run her aunt's ranch; she falls in love with the local priest, and she marries someone else to try to forget about him, but it doesn't work out that way) starring Richard Chamberlain, Rachel Ward, Christopher Plummer, Barbara Stanwyck, Stephanie Faracy, Barry Corbin, and Bryan Brown. Note that this was originally intended to be a feature film, but because of its scope (covering 60 years!), it ended up a 4-part mini-series that 460 minutes long. In spite of it being set in Australia, none of it was filmed there, and Bryan Brown was the only Australian in the main cast. He fell in love with Rachel Ward during filming, and they married that year, and have three children, and are still married! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that most of the stills have a snipe lightly glued to the back (and each snipe gives much information about the still). They come to us from a man who worked for a newspaper during those years, and he saw that the newspaper did not want the stills after using them, so he asked if he could have them, and he has saved them over all these years and is offering them now! Also note that most of these TV stills measure 7" x 9", and one measures 8" x 10". SUPER IMPORTANT! THIS LOT CONTAINS 5 STILLS, BUT ONLY FOUR OF THE STILLS ARE PICTURED! THE HIGH BIDDER ON THIS LOT WILL RECEIVE 5 STILLS FROM THIS MOVIE, and NOT just the four pictured! We realize there is an element of gambling to this, but we made only a small effort to find the best four stills in these lots, and, if you have any willingness to gamble at all, you may find that you get some great stills that were not pictured! Please do NOT bid on this lot unless you can accept that you are only seeing four of the stills. Note that the items in this lot are from the 1970s to the 1980s.
