An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Herald (measures 8" x 10 1/2" [20 x 27 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More) Frankenstein, the classic 1931 James Whale Universal monster horror thriller ("The monster that terrorized the world!"; "The Man Who Made a Monster"; "Warning! The monster is loose!"; "Based upon the Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley Story"; "Adapted by John L. Balderston from the play by Peggy Webling"; the first of the Universal "Frankenstein" movies, and regarded as one of the finer movies of any genre, in large part due to the marvelous acting of Boris Karloff, and the marvelous direction of James Whale!) starring Colin Clive (as Dr. Herbert V. Frankenstein), Boris Karloff (as the Frankenstein monster), Edward Van Sloan, Fredric Kerr, Mae Clarke, Dwight Frye (extremely memorable as Fritz), and John Boles NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is one of four wonderful Universal heralds we were consigned for this auction (they are from Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, Son of Frankenstein, and The Mummy). We are auctioning them in four separate auctions. Since first release posters and even lobby cards from these movies cost astronomical amounts, these heralds are a wonderful way to include first release paper from these titles in a horror collection. This is a rare opportunity to acquire one or more of these wonderful Universal heralds! Also note that the herald includes great cast portraits on the back cover, including one of Karloff WITHOUT makeup! Condition: good. The herald has tiny tears and tiny bits of paper loss in the top and bottom of the front cover and a small area of paper loss in the top of the back cover that affects the top of Clive's image and a period from the tagline on the other side. There is surface paper loss in the top of the front cover above Carl Laemmle's credit, and affecting some of the letters. See our images of the entire herald to get a good sense of its exact condition. Learn More about condition grades
