An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Herald (measures 8" x 12 1/4" [20 x 31 cm]; 1 page) (Learn More) Night Life in Harlem, the 1933 traveling vaudeville show, which consisted of great African American performers, including "Little Sammy Davis, Our Gang and Warner Bros. Picture star, Co-Stared with Ethel Waters in Rufus Jones For President"! Also in the show were Will Maston ("Colored Geo. M. Cohan"), Stan Miller's Club Alabama Swing Band, which featured Albert Killian ("When it comes to hot trumpet, he is Louis Armstrong's only competitor"), Freeman and Palmer, Lucille Wilson, Billy English, "16 Brownskin Models", and "a company of 40 Great Artists 40". With all these top stars, it is no wonder this show was billed as "America's Greatest Colored Spectacle". This show was intended to promote a series of shorts that Sammy Davis was to make for Warner Brothers, but none of the proposed shorts were ever made, except for the first, "Rufus Jones for President", which was made in 1933. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned two examples of this herald, and only one in the last 13 years (the last one sold for $124)! Also note that this herald (which has a great image of 8 year-old Sammy Davis Jr. in a top hat and holding a cane!) misspells "co-starred" as "co-stared", and says that Sammy Davis Jr. was an "Our Gang" star, when actually he never appeared in those movies.
