An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (Spanish/US 1sh; printed in the U.S. for use with Spanish speaking audiences; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Advise and Consent (released in other English-speaking countries as "Storm Over Washington"), the classic 1962 Otto Preminger political U.S. Senate campaigning behind-the-scenes-deal-making Washington D.C. Secretary-of-State-confirmation melodrama ("Are the men & women in Washington really like this?"; "Otto Preminger spotlights the men and women of Washington D.C.. on the record and off!"; "Based on the novel by Allen Drury"; about the wheeling and dealing that is necessary in order to have the Senate confirm a Presidential nominee for Secretary of State; the process is worse today than it was in 1962, but in this movie, there is the revelation that the nominee was once a member of the Communist party and lied about it under oath, and a Senator on the confirmation committee is a closet homosexual Mormon from Utah, and he commits suicide when he is confronted with blackmail!) starring Henry Fonda, Charles Laughton (in his final movie role), Don Murray, Walter Pidgeon, Peter Lawford, Gene Tierney, Franchot Tone, Lew Ayres, Burgess Meredith, Eddie Hodges, Paul Ford, George Grizzard, Inga Swenson, Paul McGrath, Edward Andrews, Will Geer, Betty White, Tom Helmore, Hillary Eaves, Rene Paul, Michele Montau, Paul Stevens, Russ Brown, and Malcolm Atterbury NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Saul Bass Important Added Info: Note that this one-sheet was printed in the United States for use at theaters with Spanish speaking audiences (this was done most by MGM, starting in the 1930s, but it was done by the other major studios as well, and often the posters would have the exact same image as the English language poster, except the writing would be in Spanish, and on posters from the 1930s and 1940s there would be an added "Toda en Espanol!", meaning "Entirely in Spanish!", printed within the image). Sometimes posters from the 1960s or later will have the word "SPANISH" printed in the bottom border (or sometimes stamped on the back of the poster). Note that there IS an English language "international" style one-sheet with this art, but that is incredibly rare, and the poster is the same as this one, except for the language difference. Note that all but 28 of the folded one-sheets in this Part I of eMoviePoster.com's December Major Auction were consigned to us by legendary French dealer/collector Dominique Besson. Dominique Besson started collecting movie posters in 1981, and became a dealer in French and European posters in 1994, and has remained as a top dealer ever since! But in addition, 30 years ago, Dominique began collecting U.S. one-sheets, first those with Saul Bass art, and then adding Alfred Hitchcock posters, then Humphrey Bogart, and he finally ended up collecting in an amazing total of 47 different categories, purchasing the posters from all over the world! Now the time has come to sell this wonderful collection, and Dominique has chosen eMoviePoster.com to do so, through our auctions! As noted above, all but 28 of the folded one-sheets in this Part I come from this more remarkable collection (the 28 that do not were consigned to us by other collectors, and are clearly marked). This is not all of the Dominique Besson collection we are auctioning. In addition, there are approximately 200 more folded one-sheets that will be in Part IV of this special auction (ones from the 1970s to present), and there are approximately 100 unfolded one-sheets that will be in Part III (including many great ones). This is a very rare opportunity to purchase folded one-sheets (all of which have had no professional restoration) from one of the greatest one-sheet collections assembled! Note that this one-sheet is from the category that Dominique Besson collected on that he labeled "Saul Bass". Condition: good to very good. There is a tear and small area of paper loss in the left upper horizontal fold. Learn More about condition grades
