An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style B One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Thunderbolt, the 1929 Josef von Sternberg romantic love triangle crime film noir ("Super Paramount Talking Production"; Bancroft plays a really bad man who is on Death Row, but his only concern is the convict in the cell next to him, who was framed, and is in love with the same girl that Bancroft is, and Bancroft wants to find a way to kill him before he himself is executed) starring George Bancroft (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; "The dynamic star of the screen"), Fay Wray, Richard Arlen, Tully Marshall, and Eugenie Besserer NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has no blank borders, but it has NOT been trimmed. This is something Paramount did in 1929 and 1930, printing their posters with a "full bleed", meaning the solid borders ran all the way to the edge of the poster, and the small writing at the bottom is within the color area, because there is no white area beneath it. This printing method was abandoned after a short time (probably because printers at the time had difficulty printing with a full bleed). It would not be until around 1990 that printers would again print movie posters with a full bleed! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Condition: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and some minor wear on the foldlines. There was a 2" tear in the upper right border (extending into the edge of the "T" of "BANCROFT") and a 2" diagonal tear in Bancroft's ear. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
