Note that this poster was created by the United States Shipping Board Emergency Fleet Corporation, which had a mandate to acquire, maintain, and operate merchant ships to meet national defense, foreign and domestic commerce during World War I. Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster was never folded. It had an 8" slightly diagonal tear in the top right blank area, with a tear and a tape stain in the top right corner. It had a few other tears and stains in other parts of the blank white area. It had some tears and tiny paper loss in the bottom title area and small tears and paper loss in the rest of the borders. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Learn More about condition grades
