eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 1j1731 DRACULA/FRANKENSTEIN 1960s Karloff & Lugosi double horror show of the century, ultra rare! Date Sold 1/18/2022Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. A Vintage Undated (probably 1960s; see below) Pressbook (pb; measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm]; 10 pages) (Learn More) the double-bill release ("We dare you to see Dracula with Bela Lugosi and Frankenstein with Boris Karloff"; "We dare you to see them together"; "The double horror show of the century Can You Take It?") of Dracula, the classic 1931 Tod Browning Universal vampire monster horror thriller ("The Greatest of all Horror Thrillers"; based on the classic novel and play by Bram Stoker) starring Bela Lugosi (in the title role as Count Dracula), David Manners, Dwight Frye (if there had been a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award in 1931, Frye would have surely won it for his wild over-the-top portrayal as Renfield!), Helen Chandler, and Edward Van Sloan (as Professor Abraham Van Helsing) AND Frankenstein, the classic 1931 James Whale Universal monster horror thriller ("The monster that terrorized the world!"; "The Man Who Made a Monster"; "Based upon the Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley Story"; "Adapted by John L. Balderston from the play by Peggy Webling"; the first of the Universal "Frankenstein" movies, and regarded as one of the finer movies of any genre, in large part due to the marvelous acting of Boris Karloff, and the marvelous direction of James Whale!) starring Colin Clive, Boris Karloff (as the Frankenstein monster), Edward Van Sloan, Fredric Kerr, Mae Clarke, Dwight Frye (extremely memorable as Fritz), and John Boles Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this pressbook, which is very mysterious. It has all the information and ads for the 1938 double-bill, but the paper it is printed on is much newer than 1938, probably 1960s or so. So we are putting 1960s on this, but we don't know anymore, and even that is a guess. Perhaps someone made this as a tribute. Please do not bid on this item unless you can accept all these uncertainties. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook (if the back cover is not the poster page, we photographed the interior poster page), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners received pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: very good, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut. Learn More about condition grades
