An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Superman in Exile, the 1954 George Blair & Thomas Carr comic book superhero action adventure (a compilation of 3 episodes of TV's "The Adventures of Superman"; the episodes in this feature are "Superman in Exile", "The Face and the Voice", and "Case of the Whistling Bird") starring George Reeves (in the title role as Superman/Clark Kent), Noel Neill (as Lois Lane), Jack Larson (as Jimmy Olsen), John Hamilton (as Perry White), and Robert Shayne (as Inspector Henderson). Note that this was one of five compilation movies created out of episodes of this classic TV series. They were apparently solely shown outside the U.S. (which makes sense, since the episodes had been shown on TV in the U.S.), and we know that it is likely that one-sheets and lobby card sets were created for all five compilation features, but one-sheets from them are quite rare, and lobby cards are even more rare (which also makes sense, since lobby cards would have been far less likely to have been used in other countries). The other four titles were Superman and the Jungle Devil, Superman Flies Again, Superman's Peril, and Superman in Scotland Yard. The only reason we know so much about these titles is because a pressbook was created for all five features, and we once auctioned it, and it sold for $412! There are light brown stains along the top quarter of the vertical fold and around the edges of the poster from exposure to moisture. There is approximately 2" of separation at the top crossfold and there is minor separation at the other crossfolds and some of the ends of the foldlines. This is the sort of poster that responds really well to professional restoration. It is likely that much or all of the staining can be removed through chemical means, after which the poster will look fantastic (although I think most collectors could happily display this great poster on their wall just as it is).
