Date Sold 4/3/2014Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. A 1976 Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Japanese "B2" Movie Poster (measures 20" x 28 1/2" [51 x 72 cm]) (Learn More) Safety Last!, the 1923 Fred C. Newmeyer & Sam Taylor silent romantic action slapstick comedy ("Laughs, Thrills"; "Laughter First!"; "When your seams rip open from giggling"; "The First 7 Reel Thrill-a-minute Laugh-a-second Comedy Cyclone"; "And all for the love of a maid!"; written in part and produced by Hal Roach) starring Harold Lloyd, Mildred Davis (Harold Lloyd's real life wife; they had married during the production of this movie!), Bill Strothers, Noah Young, and Westcott Clarke. Note that this was the movie that included the classic sequence of Lloyd climbing up the side of a building, and starting to fall, and then grabbing the hands of a giant clock, and then the works of the clock start to come apart! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was never folded. It had scuffs scattered across the bottom inch of the poster and some tiny tears in the bottom of the left and right borders. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above, but they are really not very distracting (and a talented restorer could touch them up without re-backing the poster).
