An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Pat O'Brien was born in 1899. The quintessential Irish actor, he was playing the second lead in The Front Page on Broadway, and someone at United Artists, which had just bought the rights, heard he was great in it, but they thought he had the lead role and they offered it to him, and of course he didn't correct them! He soon settled in at Warner Brothers, first playing romantic lead roles, but it wasn't long before he became a secondary star, often playing stereotyped Irish cops and priests. Perhaps his best remembered role was as Father Connelly in Angels With Dirty Faces, where he memorably asks gangster Rocky Sullivan to act "yellow" as he is strapped in the chair, so that kids everywhere wouldn't emulate him and end up where he did. He is also remembered for his roles in Some Like it Hot, and Page Miss Glory. He passed away in 1983 at the age of 83. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Pat O'Brien! Also note that the snipe has the working title "Send Another Coffin" (which was crossed out and replaced with the completely different title "City For Sale"), but the movie ultimately was called "Slightly Honorable". Also note that this still has been trimmed and it now measures 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm]. Our consignor is a very longtime collector of movie paper who regularly attended the Chiller collectible show. This signed item (and the others offered from this collector) were purchased at a Chiller convention over the years. In some cases, he had them signed by the celebrity when they appeared in person at the show, and in other cases, he purchased them from Kevin Clement, who runs the Chiller shows, and in all cases, he (and we) believe this signature is authentic. Condition: very good. There are some faint scuffs scattered in the image, but they are mostly only noticeable when the still is tilted to the light. Otherwise, the still is in pretty nice condition.
