And a girl still wet behind the ears who didn't care what they were or who they were as long as they had true grit."; "A Brand New Brand of American Frontier Story."; "From the novel by Charles Portis") starring John Wayne (winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; as U.S. Marshal Reuben J. 'Rooster' Cogburn), Glen Campbell (as La Boeuf, the Texas Ranger), Kim Darby (as Mattie Ross), Jeremy Slate, Robert Duvall, Strother Martin, and Dennis Hopper. Note that this was the movie for which John Wayne won a Best Actor Oscar (over both Dustin Hoffman and Jon Voight in Midnight Cowboy), and many people are of the opinion that the award was a gift to Wayne (a sort of "lifetime achievement award"), but actually, he was really magnificent in the part (although personally, I think Dustin Hoffman DID deserve the Oscar!).
