An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Jumbo Lobby Card (LC; measures 14" x 17" [36 x 43 cm]) (Learn More) Anybody's Woman, the 1930 Dorothy Arzner romantic love triangle comedy (about a lawyer whose wife leaves him, and in a reckless drunken moment, he marries a chorus girl, and rather than divorce her, he tries to make the marriage work by turning her into a respectable society woman) starring Ruth Chatterton, Clive Brook, Paul Lukas, Huntley Gordon, and Virginia Hammond. Like most of director Arzner's movies, this one dealt with a very independent woman who "goes her own way" in life! Also note that Dorothy Arzner was a director from the 1920s to the 1940s, and she was the only woman director during the "Golden Age" of Hollywood ('20s to '40s) and she was the first woman to join the Directors Guild of America. Arzner was a lesbian at a time when almost no females openly were, and she was surprisingly open about it, often dressing in "men's clothes" and wearing her hair short. She made many "women's movies" and movies with a "feminist" theme. After making "First Comes Courage" in 1943, she made training films for the U.S. Army WACs, and she never returned to making Hollywood movies, becoming a film teacher of directing and screenwriting, teaching at UCLA until her passing in 1979. Important Added Info: Note that this is one of a large collection of jumbo lobby cards we were consigned (it includes some "vertical" star portraits as well). In addition to including many extremely rare titles, many of the jumbo lobby cards are in nice condition (some have staining or paper loss, which is clearly marked when it is present, but almost all the cards are not at all fragile, which is a big plus with this size of movie paper). Condition: good. There are many creases, scuffs, tears, and small areas of paper loss around the edges of the card extending into the credits and image areas.
