Songs!"; "The Sensational Broadway Musical!"; "What a Cast!"; "Brilliant cast of entertainers"' one of the first major all-black movies from a major studio, intended to be shown to both white and black audiences) starring Ethel Waters ("Famed Torch Singer"), Eddie 'Rochester' Anderson ( "Funnier Than Ever"), Lena Horne ("Gorgeous Song-Bird"), Louis Armstrong, Rex Ingram (as Lucifer Jr.), Duke Ellington & His Orchestra, The Hall Johnson Choir, Willie Best, Mantan Moreland, Kenneth Spencer, John William Sublett (as Bubbles), Ford Washington Lee (as Buck), and Oscar Polk. Note that Sublett and Lee appeared together in a number of movies as "Buck and Bubbles".
