Madame X, the 1920 Frank Lloyd silent romantic family relationship melodrama ("Adapted from the French of Alexandre Bisson"; based on the play by Alexandre Bisson; the story of a mother who gives up her son, and years later becomes involved in his life, without him learning that she is his mother) starring Pauline Frederick, William Courtleigh, Casson Ferguson, Maude Louis, and Hardee Kirkland. Note that this classic tearjerker is one of the most frequently remade movies ever! It was first in a feature film in 1916 (as "Madam X"), and was then remade in 1920, 1929, 1937, 1939, 1948, 1954, and 1966, and there was even a TV movie version in 1981!
