Date Sold 2/3/2013Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage English Pressbook (measures 9 1/2" x 14 1/2" [24 x 37 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More) World in Flames, the 1940 Albert J. Richard World War II (WWII) era anti-Nazi propaganda newsreel ("CAN WE STOP HIM?"; "Can the dictators boss Uncle Sam? Will the U.S. be blitzkrieged?"; "See Paramount's World In Flames"; "Daring! Sensational!"; "EXTRA! For Patriots Only!"; "London rocked by bombs! Norway occupied! Belgium invaded! Red Army invades Finland! Holland bows to Nazis! Poland smashed! Denmark yields! France calls!"). Note that this newsreel, released a full year before Pearl Harbor, was created by Paramount Studios, no doubt in an effort to help push the United States into World War II! The poster for the newsreel has a great graphic of a Nazi officer crossing out the names of defeated countries (Norway, Holland, and France), and an American soldier's hand is grabbing the Nazi soldier's hand before he can cross out Great Britain! It is noted as being "FOR PATRIOTS ONLY!". If anyone knows more about this newsreel, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this English pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this English pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut!
