An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Argentinean Movie Poster (measures approximately 29" x 43" [74 x 109 cm]) (Learn More) La Dolce Vita (sometimes referred to as "Federico Fellini's La Dolce Vita"; literally translates to "The Sweet Life"), the classic 1960 (released in the U.S. in 1961) Federico Fellini (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) French/Italian romantic melodrama ("Uncut uncensored now for all to see... the nights, the drunken revels, the sin and the sinners, the perverted decadence of the jet set rich who live what they call 'the sweet life'"; "The most talked about - the most shocked about film of our years"; about a successful Italian movie critic who is dissatisfied with the emptiness of his life, even though he is surrounded by rich and famous people and has a beautiful girlfriend, and he yearns to understand why) starring Marcello Mastroianni, Anita Ekberg, Anouk Aimee, Yvonne Furneaux, Magali Noel, Lex Barker, Jacques Sernas, Alain Cuny, Annibale Ninchi, Walter Santesso, Nadia Gray, and Franca Pasut. Note that Astor Pictures, which had been known for mostly re-releasing classic U.S. movies in the 1940s and 1950s, acquired the rights for the first American release of this classic Italian movie, which they released on April 19, 1961. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that there are two styles of Argentinean poster that were created for the first release of this movie in Argentina. One style has a photo montage of all the lead actors. The other style (which is the one we are offering here) has wonderful full-color artwork of sexy Anita Ekberg. That second poster was apparently released in conjunction with a promotion from Aerolineas Argentinas, for their logo is printed within the poster at bottom right. There is also mention of the soundtrack in the bottom left of that poster, which is not on the other poster. This is a very rare poster! The only time we have previously auctioned it was in 2015, and it sold for $1,568! Condition: fair to good. The poster was folded in half an extra time and there is some tiny paper loss at a few crossfolds and minor wear on the folds. There are pinholes around the edges of the poster, a few enlarged. The poster was displayed somewhere where something was glued over the top and bottom borders, and when that was removed, it left darkening in both borders and some tears and paper loss (the paper loss is more in the bottom border). Someone wrote four numbers in marker on the back of the center of the poster, and it bleeds through to the front in the blue background at center. Also, on the back of the poster, is glued a 3" x 6 3/4" snipe that has the title of the movie printed on it, with information about the movie in Spanish. Obviously, this great poster can be linenbacked and restored, but bear the expense of this (and the defects it has) in mind before placing a bid. Learn More about condition grades
