An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Screen Snapshots, the 1924 - 1958 Ralph Staub Columbia newsreel documentary shorts that featured behind-the-scenes footage of Hollywood stars of the day at various Hollywood events or parties. Starting around 1930, these short documentaries were almost exclusively written, produced and directed (and occasionally edited and narrated) by Ralph Staub. They usually ran for 9 or 10 minutes and were shown in theaters alongside the main features. Note that we have seen several different one-sheets for this series (including ones from 1932, 1933, 1940, and 1950). The one from 1933 says "New Screen Snapshots", but the others say "Screen Snapshots". We don't know if there were also ones for other years. If anyone knows more about this series of newsreel shorts or their posters, please e-mail us and we will post it here. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster (as noted above) is from 1933. It has a wonderful color image of a newsreel cameraman photographing Hollywood stars in their private lives. We previously auctioned one example of this poster, and that poster has now been re-consigned to us, so this is still the only example of this poster we have ever auctioned! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the bottom two crossfolds and some fine surface paper loss on parts of the folds and minor border wear. It had a few smudges and scuffs in the solid black background areas. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, but it was slightly roughly handled after it was backed, and there is an extremely faint partial horizontal crease running through the center of the lower part of the title, but it is basically almost unnoticeable, and the poster displays well.
