Date Sold 10/22/2017 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 2 Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Stills on 11" x 14" Printed Backgrounds (Learn More) Romance on the Beat, the 1945 Bud Pollard All American Variety black African American musical ("An All-American streamlined feature!"; "All-Star Colored Cast") starring Ida James (billed as "featuring Ida James the 'Shoo-shoo Baby' Girl"), Lloyd Lionel, Randall Moages, Jimmy Fuller, Hugh Walke, and Tiny Dickerson. Note that Ida James was a "honey-voiced" singer/actress who only appeared in a few movies, but one was a short where she did a duet with Nat King Cole, and another was the classic Hi-De-Ho with Cab Calloway. If anyone knows more about this movie (which was distributed by the All American company, which seems to have pretty much only distributed all black movies and shorts), please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that each of these stills is stapled to a special lobby card-like background. Theaters would order these blank backgrounds (usually with printed color borders), with a blank central area designed for an 8x10 still, and then they would glue or staple stills into the background, and then display them in their lobby card frames (which every theater had in the 1960s or earlier).
