An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Campaign Book (measures 11 1/4" x 14 1/4" [29 x 36 cm]; 119 pages) (Learn More) The Talk of the Industry ("Metro-Goldwyn Presents for 1925-1926, 52 History making pictures - the first half to be presented as 'The Perfect 26'"), the 1925 MGM campaign book featuring images and information about upcoming MGM movie releases for the 1925-26 season, including films with stars such as Ramon Novarro, Buster Keaton, Lon Chaney Sr., Lillian Gish and many, many more. What makes this book really special is that it has pages with a printed border that have a beautiful tipped-in 8" x 10" sepia image of the stars (with their names printed underneath), and there are also full-page artwork ads for the upcoming films. The artwork is mostly line drawings, and not full painted art, like on some campaign books, but they are full-color images, and many are extremely striking! Note that even though this campaign book was sent to many theater owners, it appears that very few examples have survived. I have been a collector of campaign books and related material for many years, and I know for certain that this campaign book is extremely rare! Finally, note that campaign books in general are extremely rare, and the best of them have often sold for hundreds of dollars, and in the case of the very finest, thousands of dollars! The pages were all attached at the spine inside of the hardcover binding with string, and the strings have broken, so we can't be certain that all the pages are present, because most of them are loose, but we think they are.
