Date Sold 8/8/2021Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Cuban Movie Poster (measures 28" x 36 3/4" [71 x 93 cm]) (Learn More) Invasion of the Saucer-Men, the 1957 Edward L. Cahn science fiction (sci-fi) alien horror thriller ("Creeping Horror... From the depths of time and space!"; "See Teenagers vs. The Saucer-Men!"; "See Disembodied hand that crawls...!"; "See Night the world nearly ended...!"; "See Earth attacked by flying saucers!") starring Steven Terrell, Gloria Castillo, Raymond Hatton, Frank Gorshin, Lyn Osborn, and Russ Bender. Note that while few people have fond memories of this movie, everyone loves the wonderful posters created to advertise it, with the goofy "cabbage head" aliens holding a half-clad girl, and with great art of spaceships destroying a city! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this Cuban poster! Obviously, any "pre-Castro" Cuban posters are incredibly rare, because after the revolution there, such items were mostly all destroyed. There are very few Cuban posters of any kind from the 1950s and earlier, but next to none from horror/sci-fi movies! We have auctioned a few 1950s horror/sci-fi Cuban posters, but they were all from much lesser movies, and this is far and away the best such poster we have auctioned! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had paper loss at the crossfolds and some tears and tiny paper loss on parts of several folds, with an uneven tear at upper left that went through the red box and into the credit above, and into the "O" of "HOMBRES". Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Obviously, one would love to find an unrestored example of this poster, but we don't know that even one other example of this poster exists (see above for more on the extreme rarity of Cuban posters like this).
