An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Looney Tunes, the 1940 stock poster for theaters showing Looney Tunes animated cartoons ("A Vitaphone Short Subject"). Note that this poster (which features art of Porky Pig driving a car with Daffy Duck) would be ordered by theaters showing the Vitaphone shorts cartoons, and they would either place a snipe in the upper right blank area or hand write in the name of the particular movies they were showing that week, thus getting many posters for the price of one! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster! We have auctioned only two in all our years of auctioning, and the last time was in 1993 where it sold for $1,800 (and previously it sold in 1991 for $2,200)! Condition: good to very good. The poster has tiny separation and tiny paper loss at the bottom two crossfolds. It has an oval-shaped area of staining surrounding the back of the top and bottom crossfolds. It measures approximately 4" x 8" at its widest points, but it truly is not very noticeable from the front of the poster. There is a small piece of tape on the back of the left ends of the bottom two horizontal folds, where there was separation, and there is small separation at the left end of the top horizontal fold, but there is not tape on the back. This is the sort of poster that responds really well to professional restoration. It is likely that much or all of the light staining can be removed through chemical means, after which the poster will look fantastic (although I think some collectors could happily display this great poster on their wall just as it is, because, as I said above, the light staining is not very noticeable at all from the front).
