An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Three-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 41" x 81") (Learn More) Neptune's Daughter, the 1914 Herbert Brenon silent underwater ocean fantasy ("A Miraculous Escape"; "A weird, wild, wonderful spectacle in seven parts") starring Annette Kellerman (in the title role as Neptune's daughter; billed as "Annette Kellermann"), William E. Shay, and William Welsh (in the title role as Neptune; billed as "William Welch"). Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: This three-sheet was printed in 3 sections. Condition: very good. The poster had creases and tears, and tiny areas of paper loss along several foldlines, more so down the center vertical foldline. There were smudges and stains in the blue sky area at top left. The person who did the restoration did a nice job of restoring the damaged foldlines, and did much in-painting in the solid blue area, but it is not very noticeable when viewing the entire poster. The borders were extremely tattered and mostly trimmed off. The person who did the restoration put new blank white paper over all the borders to even out the appearance (but the small writing at the bottom of the poster was not covered over). This is a common technique used by several top restorers. It is done so well that the majority of collectors are not even aware it has been done, and many do not feel it to be a significant detraction (since it is only blank white area). Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was overall well backed, and displays quite nicely (and it is an extremely high probability that there is no surviving other example of this poster!). Learn More about condition grades
