An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked French One-Panel "Grande" Movie Poster (1p; measures 48" x 63" [122 x 160 cm]) (Learn More) Wanted - A Husband, the 1919 Lawrence C. Windom silent mistaken identity romantic marriage comedy ("By Samuel Hopkins Adams"; a wacky story of a young woman whose best friends become engaged, so, to not feel a loser, she makes up a fiance, and her friends help her fake it, and then a young man volunteers to pretend to be the fiance, and amazingly, they really fall in love) starring Billie Burke (billed as "By arrangement with Florenz Ziegfeld Jr."), James Crane, Margaret Linden, Charles Lane, Edward Lester, and Bradley Barker. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Jacques Faria Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare pre-World War II French poster! Virtually no French posters survive from before, during, or right after World War II (mostly only pre-war heavy stock lobby cards, and even those are rare). Apparently there were many paper shortages in France during World War II, resulting in the destruction of almost all pre-World War II posters! ANY movie paper items from this movie are incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned two one-sheets from this movie (and NO other movie paper of any kind) until we received this French poster! Also, note that there was apparently another Billie Burke film (The Frisky Mrs. Johnson from 1920) which was released in France under this title (or records have become confused about the films). Luckily, this poster mentions both the writer and director of Wanted - A Husband, and features artwork of a man (perhaps Bradley Barker) who can be seen on the U.S. one-sheet for Wanted - A Husband. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had darkened. It had small tears and areas of paper loss on parts of many folds, and some smudges, scuffs, and tears in non-fold areas. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can clearly see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Learn More about condition grades
