An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Belgian Movie Poster (measures 14 1/4" x 21" [36 x 53 cm]) (Learn More)

the double-bill release of Ivan Groznyj I (released in the U.S. in 1947 as "Ivan the Terrible Part One" and simply as "Ivan the Terrible"), the 1944 Sergei M. Eisenstein Russian historical biographical war melodrama (reportedly, Eisenstein made this movie specifically because Josef Stalin wanted it made!) starring Nikolai Cherkasov (in the title role as Czar Ivan IV), Lyudmila Tselikovskaya, Serafima Birman, Mikhail Nazvanov, and Mikhail Zharov, with a wonderful musical score by Serge Prokofiev! AND Ivan Groznyy II: Boyarsky zagovor (released in the U.S. as "Ivan the Terrible Part Two"), the 1958 Sergei M. Eisenstein & M. Filimonova Russian historical biography melodrama (reportedly, Eisenstein made this movie specifically because Josef Stalin wanted it made!) starring Nikolai Cherkasov (in the title role as Czar Ivan IV), Serafima Birman, Pavel Kadochnikov, Mikhail Zharov, and Amvrosi Buchma. Note that there may have never been a "regular" double-bill release of these two movies, but rather only a single combined version ("version integrale") that combined them both into a single feature, almost surely shortening them! If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair to good. The poster had many folds and many creases and scuffs on the folds and in the bottom of the poster, with some other creases and scuffs as well. Overall, the poster was in fair condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above.
