An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style D One-Sheet Movie Poster (27" x 41") (Learn More) Rio Rita, the 1942 S. Sylvan Simon south-of-the-border romantic musical screwball comedy ("The Daffy-Dilly Jubilee of Mirth and Music!"; "Special Material by John Grant"; about not very bright entertainers at a Mexican resort, and they meet Nazi agents who try to trick them into smuggling contraband into the U.S.) starring Bud Abbott, Lou Costello (Abbott and Costello), Kathryn Grayson (in the title role as Rita Winslow), John Carroll, Patricia Dane, Tom Conway, Peter Whitney, Eros Volusia (a sexy Brazilian dancer; as herself), and Joan Valerie. Note that the contract that Abbott & Costello had signed with Universal allowed them to make one movie a year at a different studio, and this movie was made with MGM (they made two other MGM movies in 1944 and 1945). This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had very minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had tiny paper loss at the top crossfold, very minor fold wear, and pinholes around the edges of the poster. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking.
