Date Sold 2/20/2011 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. books & magazines (Learn More) a lot of 16 annuals containing almost every issue of Tales From the Crypt, The Vault of Horror, and The Haunt of Fear (the two volumes contain the first ten issues of Tales from the Crypt are missing). These comics were re-printed by Russ Cochran in the 1990s as individual comics and they were later bound together into these annuals, which contain all of the comics complete (including covers), plus a new annual cover. They originally retailed for prices ranging from $8.95 to $13.50 per annual. If you have never read an E.C. comic, know that they were the absolute finest comic books ever created (publisher Bill Gaines inherited the company when his father died, and in a few short years, he put out hundreds of wonderful comics, and the most famous of these was Tales from the Crypt). The comics were more aimed at adults than children, and there was a Senate investigation as to their effect on children, and that drove Gaines out of business, and he turned one of the comics, MAD, into a magazine, which made him more successful than ever, selling millions of copies a month! WARNING: If you have never read an E.C. comic, know that they can be incredibly addictive, so you may well find yourself compelled to buy the entire series!
