An Original Vintage Theatrical Die-Cut Movie Standee (the bottom piece measures approximately 39" x 48" at it's longest points; the top piece measures approximately 34" x 42" at it's widest point; assembled the figure of Clint Eastwood is almost exactly 6 feet tall, so it is likely close to exactly "life-size") (Learn More) Dirty Harry, the classic 1971 Don Siegel San Francisco California police detective action crime thriller ("Detective Harry Callahan. He doesn't break murder cases. He smashes them."; "You don't assign him to murder cases. You just turn him loose."; "Dirty Harry and the homicidal maniac. Harry's the one with the badge."; about an unorthodox cop who tracks down a psychotic murderer; based on the real-life Zodiac killer who terrorized San Francisco, California in the 1960s) starring Clint Eastwood (in the title role as Harry Callahan), Harry Guardino, Reni Santoni, Andrew Robinson (in the role of his life as the crazed psycho killer!; billed as "Andy Robinson"), John Larch, John Vernon ("as 'The Mayor'"), Lyn Edington, and Bill Couch NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this classic movie had a very imaginative ad campaign, with striking (and different) images for the one-sheet, three-sheet, insert, half-sheet, and six-sheet. I THOUGHT I had seen an example of every poster from this campaign, but in 2007 I was consigned one example of this amazing die-cut standee, with Eastwood standing full length with his .44 magnum handgun pointed in front of him in the classic shooting pose! I can't imagine all that many theaters got this standee when the movie opened (for it was the first in the series, and completely unknown that it would be such a hit), and of the theaters that DID get it, I would think the vast majority of them were trashed soon after the movie played, especially because it is die-cut and three-dimensional, and therefore had a far greater likelihood of being broken into pieces. Last year I was consigned a second example of this standee, in the amazing Clint Eastwood auction we held. IMPORTANT! The high bidder from that auction did not complete the sale, perhaps because of the high cost of shipping this standee (it must be sent in a larger than one-sheet size flat package, with much sturdy cardboard on each side, so it is quite expensive to send, especially overseas. Therefore, please bear this cost of shipping in mind BEFORE placing a bid on this poster! Also, note that the bottom piece measures approximately 39" x 48" at it's longest points, the top piece measures approximately 34" x 42" at it's widest point, and when assembled the figure of Clint Eastwood is almost exactly 6 feet tall, so it is likely close to exactly "life-size"! Condition: very good. The standee was made in two pieces. The top piece contains Eastwood's body from the waist up, and the bottom piece contains his body from the waist down. The theater that used this standee joined the two pieces together with tape on the back. Generally, the standee is in pretty nice condition (slightly better than the only other example of this standee we have ever seen, which we auctioned in 2007. It has one notable defect. There is a small piece at the end of the gun that has broken off from the rest of the standee, but it is there. There is some tiny paper loss around the edges of the gun and also at the edge of the left foot. But it is really remarkable that this standee survives at all, and certainly, anyone could reattach the piece of the gun that is separated and then this wonderful standee can be displayed exactly as it is, or a restorer could perform restoration to the tiny defects around the edges of this die-cut standee (but I would be surprised if the new owner feels this is necessary!
