An Autographed Letter (measures 4" x 6" [10 x 15 cm]) (Learn More) Roddy McDowall was an English child actor of the late 1930s and early 1940s who successfully made a transition to adult roles. Some of his movies include: Planet of the Apes (as Cornelius), How Green Was My Valley, and The Longest Day. He also did much TV in his later years. In his later years, he found much additional success as a photographer, often photographing celebrities he knew personally. He passed away in 1998 at the age of 70. Important Added Info: Note that this letter (which is on his printed stationery) has been personally autographed (signed) by Roddy McDowall! Our consignor purchased this letter, which was written to Lillian Gish, in a group of similar items from Kensington Estate Auctions as part of the James Frasher estate (he was Lillian Gish's personal assistant). Our consignor does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we are certain the signature is authentic. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased (although we prefer they do any "authenticating" while the auction is "live" and before they place a bid) and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: very good.
