An Unfolded Travel Poster (measures 25" x 40" [64 x 102 cm]) (Learn More)

TWA: Portugal, the 1950s/1960s (see below) airline aviation airplane travel poster encouraging tourism to Portugal aboard Trans World Airlines. The poster features cool artwork of the magnificent Portuguese building "Monastery of Belem", with a statue of a horse in the foreground. The artwork is not signed, but it looks like the work of noted travel poster illustrator David Klein! Note that we have seen multiple versions of TWA: Portugal posters with this art. Some have a silhouette of a jet aircraft and some have an image of a prop-driven Constellation aircraft. We think the one with the Constellation image dates from the 1950s, and the jet silhouette dates from the 1960s.

Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one that has the tagline at right: "as low as $320 round trip from New York" in all our years of auctioning!

Condition: good to very good. The poster has creases, defects, areas of paper loss and tears of varying lengths along parts of some edges (especially at upper left - see our image). There are light creases scattered throughout.
